typical situation:

i'd like to rename a movie name for scraping since i got no results. the rename dialog appears, right under it there is what i call a "virtual keyboard" - wich right now is only accessible by using a mouse. in my opinion this renders this keyboard screen useless since when i'm able to use my mouse, chances are i'm already sitting in front of my pc and have my real keyboard handy. so i'd like to see a key event which can switch focus between the line to write to and the virtual keyboard window back and forth. furthermore it (the keyboard window) should then become acessible and usable by the arrow keys to move around in it and selecting letters with enter/ok. that way one could sit back, relax on his couch, and use his remote and his tv to fulfill such tasks.

this would also lead in being able to

and the remote will automagically navigate the keyboard.

you don't get me. i WANT to use that virtual keyboard since i'm NOT having the real keyboard available when sitting in my living room using xbmc on my tv. problem is i'm not able to somehow switch control to have that keyboard window in focus, instead focus is on the line where the name is. did i miss a keypress that already switches focus to the virtual keyboard?

no it doesn't. i can move the cursor to left and right in the title line with "arrow keys" mapped to keys on my remote (which work well for any other navigation inside xbmc), but i cannot go down to the keyboard. and even if i manually click on a letter with my mouse, which changes focus to the keyboard, i can neither move around in that window nor select anything in it.

right now i've mapped some number keys on the remote to simulate mouse movements and a left click, which is a terrible workaround, though. chances are the mouse pointer is outside the xbmc screen and i'm moving it "blind" so i never reach my xbmc window. and if i "left click" outside xbmc, i loose focus on xbmc and cannot remote anything unless i stand up and change back to xbmc again..

then you have a stupid remote that acts as a keyboard. see r16444

heh.. the remote is always as stupid as the user which is programming it ;)

yeah! that setting is exactly the solution i needed! it's not mentioned in the advancedsettings description of your wiki, though - that's why i missed it.

thanks for pointing me to the right direction.
