Description

Hi Guys,

While using KODI 17.3 on LibreELEC 8.0.2 with Raspberry Pi 3, the video is stuttering if MMAL advance deinterlacer is used. This is not the case if I disbale MMAL acceleration and OMX is doing the deinterlacing with same deinterlacer.

Steps to reproduce:

  • check if MMAL acceleration is enabled
  • start a SD content video (DVD, PAL resolution in my case)
  • check the video information on overlay screen (MMAL-HW, Deinterlace Method: adv2x (25.00 FPS)
  • disabling the MMAL acceleration, so only OMX Player is enabled
  • play same video file and check information on overlay menu again (OMX-HW, adv2x, 50.00 FPS)

The video is playing smoother, and the main difference is that OMX shows 50.00 FPS during deinterlacing, MMAL only 25.00 FPS using same deinterlacer (if this does have any effect). As a workaround, I can disable MMAL and use OMX for sd ontent, but OMX has some disadvantges e.g. video time is not shown correctly. Tried on nightly builds from Milhouse, too. Same behaviour there. Would be great to see a fix in near future (if neccessary, I can try to share sample files).
