YouTube Search from Estuary Home results in frozen GUI

Description

First reported on forum.

Starting with build #0501, when clicking on "Search..." in the Estuary Home screen, and then on "Search YouTube" the Kodi GUI will lock up. All screen updating will stop including debug OSD suggesting the main thread is deadlocked.

I speculated that it might be related to PR9664. Building without PR9664 (8b15639) is fine, but building with PR9664 (bee0201) will result in the GUI deadlock so it does appear to be related to PR9664 (bee0201).

Although Kodi doesn't actually crash, I obtained the following Ubuntu crashlog by signalling SIGSEGV while the GUI is frozen: http://sprunge.us/FWZO

This is reproducible on LibreELEC RPi2, LibreELEC Generic (x86) and Ubuntu x86_64 once PR9664 is included in the build.

Same deadlock issue now reported with YouTube, Quasar and TuneIn Radio addons.

Thanks. I've just tested a Pi2 LibreELEC build and also an Ubuntu x86_64 build, both included PR9748, but there's no change - clicking "Search YouTube" continues to lock-up the GUI.

PR9778 fix looks good, many thanks!
