Thank for supporting burmese language at Frodo. However, burmese language didn't render on XBMC.

Is this still an issue with 12.3 or a Gotham nightly build?

Not working yet. I am testing with 07-Jan-2014 07:13 build version. Same issue.

Please check if it's not a font issue and test using a XBMC nightly with Confluence and change the font to "Arial based" in "Settings -> Appearence -> Skin -> Fonts". Some skin fonts don't support all UTF8 characters.

  • Cc taxigps jmarshall added
  • Milestone changed from Future / Pending to 13.0

Added taxigps as I believe you've done some work in the area of subtitle rendering and jmarshall as one of our dev's responsible for the GUI.

arial.ttf in xbmc don't support Burmese (Myanmar) font. which font file you use to show Burmese? need free Burmese font to add to arial.ttf.

I tested with mon3 font ( http://mmwebfonts.comquas.com/fonts/mon3.ttf ) and Padauk ( http://mmwebfonts.comquas.com/fonts/padauk.ttf ) . Both are not working.

I change mon3.ttf to arial.ttf and then replace font from /Applications/XBMC.app/Contents/Resources/XBMC/media/Fonts/arial.ttf

I also created my own skins base on confluence that support mon3 font and padauk font , it also not working.

I have tested free font file padauk. I'll try to combine it if ok. http://cdn.img42.com/fc1c0ea0bc9b20caeb1150786f50860b.png

@taxigps , rendering is not working . The correct work for ပရိုဂရမ် is like http://f.cl.ly/items/1p0J3z193E2d0v0O250u/Screen%20Shot%202014-01-31%20at%206.30.51%20pm.png

not a long ု ... is should be small one. Rendering is not working only in home screen. It's not working in all of the system.

Here is another example . I am using latest nightly build. Red color text is the correct rendering for Myanmar language.

May I know what font rendering engine are you using ? Harfbuzz-ng can render Myanmar font well but Harfbuzz didn't support.
