Description

I am using xbmc 2:11.0~git20120423.cd20772-1 on Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Precise Pangolin.

The HTPC is connected to a receiver via an HDMI cable.

As an example, I want to watch and listen to the short film "Loom" from Ridley Scott. You can download the film here: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?84739-LOOM&p=1057515#post1057515

When I try to play the film, I see the audio light flash on the receiver display to indicate audio is being received, then the audio light goes out again. This only happens with AAC audio.

I will attach a log.

If possible try to reproduce using a recent nightly build so we can see if this is still an issue for upcoming release.

Have you accidentally checked "AAC capable receiver" in the audio output settings (and your receiver isn't AAC capable)?

If you can give me a repository, I can install the nightly no problem!

I don't see the option "AAC capable receiver", under Settings> System> Audio Output I have:

Audio output: HDMI Speaker configuration: 5.1 Boost volume level on downmix: ON

  • Dolby Digital (AC3) capable receiver: ON
  • DTS capable receiver: ON

Audio output device... etc.

I'm afraid you have to build the latest alpha from source at the moment.

I installed a newer version:

# dpkg -l |grep xbmc ii xbmc 2:11.0-pvr+pulse8~git20121031.9355790-0ubuntu1~build102~precise XBMC Media Center (arch-independent data package) ii xbmc-bin 2:11.0-pvr+pulse8~git20121031.9355790-0ubuntu1~build102~precise XBMC Media Center (binary data package)

I can't find any option for AAC capable receivers, which is odd.

I did this: pkill xbmc vi /home/xbmc/.xbmc/userdata/guisettings.xml found:

<audiooutput>

<passthroughaac>true</passthroughaac>

then changed it to: false then restarted xbmc, now it works! but it's a little quiet.

This doesn't explain the missing gui options though :(

  • Version changed from 11.0 "Eden" to GIT

comment:8 Changed 2 years ago by jmarshall

I don't know what version that is, but I'm presuming it's some modification of Eden?

Somehow you must have (in the past, perhaps) enabled the option. That it's missing in your current version might be a bug in that version - who knows.
